SATURDAY 4TH JANUARY 2014 AT A MILITARY TRAINING BASE IN HAMPSHIRE … For the third year running, Astute will be putting forward a team for Hell Runner – an extreme running event. Managing Director Paul Woods and Sales Director Darryl Squires travelled to Burkina Faso in Africa, one of the poorest county’s on earth, to attended the opening ceremony of Bethel School. With Darryl spearheading the fund-raising effort, the team at Astute have contributed over £20,000 towards the initiative through various charity events. Summer may be over now but we”re still laughing when we remember our beach football contest at Canford Cliffs. This was a great family event, open to all the Astute team and their friends and family… and for those who weren’t into football, we had plenty of beers, BBQ food and wine too!

We recently received a lovely thank you email from the team at Julia’s House, and we’d like to say another HUGE thanks and well done to the Astute team who took part in the Dorset Plane Pull on Monday 26th August. The Astute team raised almost £800 for Julia’s House Children’s Hospice with 20 team members pulling a Boeing 737, weighing a collosal 35,000 kg, for 50 metres!

Darryl Squires, Astute’s Sales Director, climbed 5,895m to conquer Africa’s highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro, in aid of Giving Africa; http://www.givingafrica.org/ Darryl has raised over £9,000 for Giving Africa to build a school in one of the world’s poorest countries, Burkina Faso. ***We’ve just updated our cover photo! This year we were lucky enough to be selected as one of Comic Relief’s hotline donation call centres. Our team went all out to raise as much as we could, and have as much fun as possible while fundraising. This included releasing 200 helium Red Nose Day balloons. Collectively we raised over £3,000, but the biggest donation we gave was taking donations over the phone on behalf of this great cause! ***
